[Objective]
The objective is to design a functional and engaging annual report. Through thoughtful use of typography and imagery, the report should create a meaningful and cohesive narrative that reflects the organisation’s vision, values, and, most importantly, its sense of place.

[Solution]
Due to travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I was unable to visit the Gardens to photograph the natural environment. In response, I explored alternative visual strategies, using symbols, punctuation marks, and other font-based extensions to symbolically represent flowers, alongside custom illustrations inspired by the textures of plants and fungi.
The soft gradients and a neutral colour palette evoke the feeling of observing a field of flora through a fogged window—subtle, layered, and atmospheric. Rather than relying on literal imagery, this abstract approach creates a symbolic representation of place, offering a more poetic interpretation of the natural world.
